Our Weekend....

Friday…We got up very very early Friday to take my Father-in-law, Tom (We call him Sparky), to St. Luke’s Hospital in Lee’s Summit for a Heart Cath. He did very well. They put a stent in and he will go back in 4 weeks for 2 more. The blockage they took care of on Friday was severe. We are SO thankful that stents will do the trick and there will be no open heart surgery. We were so pleased with St. Luke’s staff and the surgeons. It was a long day but Larry and I are so thankful that we were here to be with him and to be his transportation.

Saturday…He is home now and doing great. Still not in full speed of course but doing well. We have laughed at him a lot. He is just at the age and stage in his life where he doesn’t care about a whole lot. He was starting to get out of the bed to go to the bathroom and Larry, Aunt Carol and I were going out of the room since he was not ‘properly’ clothed. He said, “Oh, you don’t have to go, not nothing you haven’t seen before”. The nurse said, “Yeah, but that don’t mean you want to see your families parts”. It was so funny! Well, he can’t drive until Tuesday. He has been back and forth between our house and his today.

Sunday…Sparky is still doing well. He wanted to go out to breakfast this morning so Larry, Sparky, Terry and I went into town to eat. Later, we were sitting at our kitchen table and he told Larry to get him the lawn mower key. We asked why and he said, “Well, you guys won’t let me drive my truck so I’ll drive the lawn mower”. There he went through the pasture. He was determine to transport himself however he had to. Too Funny!

We now should own quiet a bit of stock in Lowe’s with all the stuff we have done around here. We just made our second trip of the weekend, and about the 5th of the week…let’s just say, good thing we got 12 months no interest! Ha! We got a patio set we needed…well, wanted AND needed. This weekend we get 10% off with a Military ID so we took advantage of it. So while the sale is going on we purchased most of the stuff we need to finish the house. I’ve been watching Larry change out lights and sinks in the kitchen. I’m helping when he yells for me. I keep offering to help but there is only room for one of us under the sinks. So, I’m bloggin’, Sparky is reading the paper and Molly is at Sparkys feet guarding him. Got to go, he needs me.

I’m back. Since I left off, we had some mishaps with putting up lights in our kitchen. This house has been a challenge from day one. Nothing in here is “standard”. Simple task become nightmares. So, Larry took lights down…and put the same old ones back up….long story. I have NO idea how we are going to fix this dilemma but stay tuned!

I have now fed Larry, Terry, Sparky and myself. We put the patio set together and I just love it! It is a table, 6 sling chairs and an umbrella with solar lights inside. We sat and enjoyed it for a little while but we are pooped and are ready to call it a day.

I’ll chat more later!
